African Rural University on 25th November, 2022 held its 8th graduation ceremony, where 11 students have been awarded with Bachelor’s degree in Rural development with an aim of contributing to African Renaissance through higher education.

The 8th Graduation Ceremony for African Rural University that attracted distinguished guests from various destinations was held on Friday at ARU Main campus in Kigagaizi Cell, Kagadi Town council Kagadi district western Uganda.

Presiding over the Ceremony as the Chief guest Dr. Kabagambe Fred Kalisa, the chairperson Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Royal Commission commended African Rural University for its holistic approach of Education towards learners asserting that it is unique since it produces job creators instead of job Seekers.

Dr. Kabagambe congratulated the graduates for the endurance that has seen them attain the award. He appeals to them to be valuable and knowledgeable in community, be hard working, observe discipline and integrity.

Retired Hon. Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi the chancellor says ARU has contributed a lot towards social economic development of the country.

He says the university has introduced a new course of Bachelors of science in sustainable Agriculture that will cater for a new mode of smart climate agriculture to overcome the challenges of climate change.

Hon. Muhanguzi has warned grandaunts against exposing their lives to deadly diseases like AIDS, epidemics like Covid 19, Ebola among others if they are to enjoy their education sweat. He further asked them not to despise jobs as long as they are income generating.

The chairperson ARU council Hon. Mrs. Joyce Mpanga who attended the ceremony virtually (zoom) applauded parents who support students either financially or in guidance hence congratulating both the parents and graduands.

Dr Mwalimu Musheshe Sr. Ashoka Fellow the vice chancellor ARU says he is optimistic that their graduates will organize the communities into a better place for everyone to thrive. He applause the distinguished partners whom they work hand in hand to pass over mentorship to their learners. He further asks graduates to use the skills attained at ARU to transform their communities.

The graduands led by Mariam Ejang, the overall best candidate with first class and CGPA of 4.5 with much joy thank ARU and her leadership for the contribution upon their success. They have promised to use skills attained at ARU to develop communities.
