URDT has implemented cervical cancer prevention and control project since 2017 up to date through the following:

Conducted cervical cancer screening at the health facilities
Conducted cervical cancer screening through outreach

Training of the health workers (midwives and nurses) in cervical cancer screening and management in the respective health centers in Kagadi district and community health workers (village health teams) in creating awareness and mobilization of women for cervical cancer screening services. This has awakened the people in Kagadi district and neighboring districts and this has created demand for the services.

Awareness creation has been the center to change people’s mind set towards cervical cancer screening services, this has been conducted through radio programs , production of EICM like; posters, banners, T-shirts among others. Through music dance and drummer by playing acting games that can change people’s mind set to end the myths on cervical cancer in the community. Radio adverts to keep reminding the community about the cervical cancer services availability in the community.

By providing cervical cancer screening service in the respective health centers in the district, this has enabled women access cervical cancer screening services in the region of Bunyoro. Screening is done and those with precancerous lesions are treated in a single visit approach to avoid some clients not turning up to after the screening.
